AT A GLANCE

With our bird feeder, you can bring the world of birds right to your doorstep and enjoy being close to nature every day as you watch your feathered guests. At the same time, you’re making a real contribution to nature conservation: feeding throughout the year gives native bird species the strength they need, even when natural food sources are scarce.

Assembled in seconds, without tools: the patented Hanehus FIX dowel-magnet plug-in system makes it possible. The silo design automatically dispenses the feed: only as much is fed out as is currently being eaten. This ensures everything stays fresh and dry at all times.

Combine the bird feeder with our nesting box and create a home for your garden birds where they’ll feel truly at home.

Hanehus. Building homes for birds.

FAQ - OUR BIRD FEEDER

How do I assemble the Hanehus bird-house, and how long does it take?

Thanks to our modular Hanehus FIX system, assembly is a breeze: you simply slot all the parts together – no tools required, no frustration, and it takes just seconds! The trick is to start by attaching or screwing on the back panel first, then adding the remaining parts. That’s the easiest way to do it.

In the assembly video, you can see exactly how it works.

What is included in the package?

You’ll receive our high-quality birdhouse, complete with 1,5 m (5 feet) of rope for attaching it to trees, a 10 cm (4 inches) special screw for mounting it on walls, various wooden plugs to aid installation, and ¾ kg (1,65 lbs) of sunflower seeds for your feathered guests.

What materials are Hanehus products made from, and how are their surfaces protected?

We use only carefully graded larch timber in A/B visual grade: for a particularly balanced and natural look with visible wood features. To protect the surfaces, we use high-quality, 0% VOC wood oils from Rubio Monocoat, which combine a natural look and feel with long-lasting protection and rich colour. In accordance with EN 71-3, they are even suitable for children’s toys.

FAQ - FEEDING BIRDS

Why is feeding birds so important?

Birds are losing their natural food sources faster than nature can replace them. By feeding them all year round, you’re giving them the strength they need to look after themselves and to raise their chicks. That’s real nature conservation in your garden. With our birdhouses and nesting boxes: Homes for birds, right in your garden too. [read more here]

Will there be a lot of dirt or spilled feed under the bird feeder?

That’s a perfectly understandable concern! Yes, of course, the odd seed does end up on the ground – some birds simply drop them one by one. Hard to tell them to stop. But that’s exactly what we’ve taken to heart when designing our bird feeders: the precisely dimensioned feeding slots prevent birds from scattering large amounts of food onto the ground. Good news: you’ll find practically no droppings under bird feeders, because birds always keep their visits there very brief for fear of predators.

FAQ - GARDEN BIRDS

How do I attract more birds to my garden?

A bird-friendly garden is the best way to welcome your feathered guests: native plants bearing berries, water for drinking, and hedges for hiding. That alone is enough to attract plenty of them. Plus: our handcrafted nesting boxes and birdhouses made from larch wood, which create the ideal environment. Every species of bird has its favourite spots. This is how your garden becomes a real bird paradise. [read more here]

Why are birds so important for our environment?

Birds play an indispensable role in the interconnectedness and functioning of our ecosystems: they pollinate plants, eat pests and disperse seeds. Without them, our natural world would collapse. Yet bird populations are falling dramatically. [read more here]
